Change to First Rail leadership team

29 Apr 2021

Liz Collins, Interim Managing Director of TransPennine Express, has decided to retire from her current full-time role and will take up a new part-time position in First Rail’s West Coast Partnership business as Finance & Commercial Director. She will begin her new role in June.

Liz has had a long and successful career with First Rail. She joined the rail industry 24 years ago at First North Western and subsequently moved to First TransPennine Express in 2004 to establish the finance function in the then newly created franchise. Liz has been Finance Director for both TransPennine Express franchises before stepping up to act as Interim Managing Director last year.

Commenting, Liz Collins said: “This has been my second spell as Interim Managing Director and has been the highlight of my career. I am really pleased to be ending my time with TPE on such a high. This is a great business, with fabulous people, and a really bright future. Over the next few years our exciting plans will continue to deliver for rail passengers in the North and into Scotland.”

Steve Montgomery, Managing Director, First Rail, said: “I’d like to thank Liz for her significant contribution to TPE over time. As Interim Managing Director, Liz has successfully managed TPE through the immense challenges posed by coronavirus. Under her leadership, TPE has continued to provide high quality services throughout the pandemic that are essential to communities across the North and Scotland. Liz leaves TPE in a strong position for the future.”

An announcement regarding a successor will be made in due course.
