FirstGroup’s in-house claims team has been shortlisted in the Combatting Fraud category at the 2018 National Insurance Fraud Awards.
The FirstGroup team will be hoping to claim recognition for their UK-wide counter-fraud awareness programme.
Taking place in London on 4 October, the awards celebrate the work of the insurance community, particularly those who fight fraud within the insurance market.
Notable for their regular contributions to the BBC One insurance counter-fraud series Claimed and Shamed, the FirstGroup team works to protect the safety of employees, passengers and financial assets.
Julie Randle, FirstGroup’s fraud prevention officer, said of the shortlisting: “Having been targeted by organised criminal gangs in recent years, we knew that the transport industry needed to step up and push back at those who seek to defraud public transport.
“We are a small team, without the benefit or resources of a large insurer. However, in recent years we believe we have been market leaders in our efforts to protect the public, particularly the elderly and vulnerable who heavily rely on public transport.”
