Amended SWR autumn timetable to commence 7 October

02 Oct 2018

South Western Railway's Leaves On Line CampaignSouth Western Railway’s autumn timetable will come into place this Sunday 7th October and will run until 8th December.

For most stations, this means some minor changes to the regular timetable. A few routes will have more significant changes to train times.

When wet leaves fall on the track they form a slippery layer that gets compacted by passing trains which means that our drivers need to allow extra time for more gentle braking and our trains may take longer to accelerate.  The amended timetable takes this additional time into account.

The timetable changes are published on the South Western Railway website, and for the most affected routes new pocket timetables have been printed and are available at staffed South Western Railway stations. For those routes with only minor changes, the current printed pocket timetables already specify leaf fall amendments, marked out in the colour green.
