17 First Student locations recognized for environmental efforts

31 Aug 2017

The National School Transportation Association (NSTA) has awarded Green School Bus Fleet Certification to 17 First Student locations for ongoing efforts to create a cleaner environment. The certification is given annually based on a number of factors, including fleet profile and anti-idling policies.

The First Student locations recognized in 2017 include:

  • Avalon, Calif.
  • Olathe, Kan.
  • Seattle
  • Bozeman, Mont.
  • Orono, Minn.
  • Springfield, Mass.
  • Council Rock, Pa.
  • Palm Springs, Calif.
  • St. Andrews, Calif.
  • Lewisville, Texas
  • Portland, Ore.
  • Waukesha, Wis.
  • McMinnville, Ore.
  • Providence, R.I.
  • West Valley, Calif.
  • Ogden, Utah
  • Santa Ana, Calif.

First Student works to reduce bus emissions by investing in its fleet, adopting new technologies, exploring alternative fuels, and enacting sustainable policies.

The NSTA developed the Green School Bus Fleet Certification program in 2010 to highlight efforts by school bus operators to reduce emission through the use of available technologies. The certification is amended each year with guidance from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to reflect changing industry standards.
