First Bus has announced the appointment of James Bowen as the company’s new Finance Director.
James, who has worked for First Bus for eight years and was most recently Regional Finance Director for the business in South England and Wales, began his new role this month.
Commenting Giles Fearnley, Managing Director of First Bus, said: “James brings tremendous experience to the role and a fantastic track record. He will make a significant contribution to the team as we look to realise the many opportunities to improve and grow our business through our continuing transformation plan.

James started his career with Ernst & Young where he qualified as a chartered accountant and worked in the UK and Australia. His career developed with senior finance roles in Compel Group PLC and the Royal Bank of Scotland PLC before joining First Bus in 2007. He progressed through the UK Bus Finance team, which included a period of time based in the headquarters in Aberdeen. James lives in Bristol and is married with two young children.
James will replace Interim Finance Director, Chris Taft, who will remain with First Bus for a short period providing support for James and the team.
