First Aberdeen celebrates achieving Investors in People accreditation

11 Jan 2016

First Aberdeen, the city’s largest bus operator, has achieved the prestigious Investors in People Bronze Accreditation, the most successful framework for business improvement through people in the UK.

This represents a true commitment to employees and demonstrates a solid foundation of good practice which remains challenging and aspirational for many organisations.

First Aberdeen joins an exclusive group of UK employers eligible to use and display the sought after Investors in People logo and plaque, and enjoy its benefits.

Commenting on the award, Managing Director of First Aberdeen, David Phillips said: “We are delighted to have been awarded the Investors in People bronze standard.

“We have been working extremely hard in this area and the recognition is a great reflection on our efforts and indicates that we are focused in the right direction. People might not naturally consider transport as a career but hopefully this demonstrates great opportunities exist here at First Aberdeen.

"Our success is very much a team effort and extends beyond focusing our own employees. As one of the city’s biggest employers, we are committed to being more accessible in our stakeholders and communities which has also been well acknowledged.”

Peter Russian, Chief Executive of Investors in People Scotland, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for First Aberdeen. I would like to congratulate the organisation and its people on their commitment to continuous improvement.

“Investors in People offers a flexible, practical and easy to use business improvement tool designed to help organisations and their people achieve their objectives. I hope that more organisations in the area will be encouraged to sharpen their competitive edge by choosing to work with us.”

First Aberdeen is the largest bus operator in the city.  More than 175 buses transport around 50,000 people every day across Aberdeen.  The company operates from its King Street bus depot and employs more than 500 staff.
