Commenting on yesterday’s Tramlink incident in Croydon, FirstGroup Chief Executive Officer Tim O’Toole said:
“I am shocked and saddened by what happened yesterday. At this time, our primary concern is for our passengers and employees who were affected. My thoughts are with them, their families, friends and colleagues. I attended the incident site yesterday and I would like to thank the emergency services, our colleagues and everyone involved. They are working in very difficult circumstances with great professionalism and dedication.
“Our Tram Operations team are making every effort to help those affected and their families. We will support them with whatever specialist resources they need.
“At this stage we do not know the details of what caused the incident. It is absolutely essential that we find out exactly what happened yesterday and this could take some time. We are working closely with Transport for London and the accident investigators and will continue to provide every assistance to the ongoing investigation.”
