Local bus operator, First, has donated £1,000 to the 3rd Falkirk Boy’s Brigade, a new club set up in the town in July 2013 for boys between the ages of five and 18.
Organisers approached First’s Charity and Sponsorship Committee for funding so that they could provide better equipment for the 60 members that have already joined the club. The funding will be used to purchase new football strips, camping kit and other sports equipment.
David Seaton is Treasurer of the 3rd Falkirk Boy’s Brigade Club and is also Property Project and Compliance Manager at First. He said: “I’m thrilled that First has awarded £1,000 to our Boy’s Brigade club – it’s a real boost to everyone involved.”
He continued: “Our aim is to help boys between the ages of five and 18 develop their confidence, teambuilding and leadership skills in an environment that is supportive and great fun. The young people that come along can work toward achieving nationally recognised awards by taking part in programmes such as Discovery, President’s Badge, Queen’s Badge and the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
“We’ve only been running the club since July 2013 but already we have 60 members and with First’s donation, we’ll soon have new football strips and some essential camping equipment – we’re planning our first camping first excursion at the end of March to Glen Clova, near Kirriemuir.”
Managing Director of Larbert based bus company, First Scotland East, Paul McGowan, said: “I’m pleased that our Charity and Sponsorship Committee has provided support to such a fantastic and worthwhile local cause.”
