First Eastern Counties has donated more than 50 day passes to the British Red Cross.
Those supported by the charity are able to benefit from free travel on First buses which will enable them to attend appointments. The passes can be used for any journey on the Norwich network.
David Jessup, Senior Services Manager for the humanitarian team in Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk at the British Red Cross said: “These bus passes will really help benefit people in need who are faced with the daily challenge of transport cost of attending appointments around the city. Our beneficiaries are mostly vulnerable and destitute with limited or no access to cash support. The difference a simple bus pass for the day can make to someone's life is immeasurable. We very much appreciate this kind donation from First Buses and I know that our beneficiaries will very much appreciate the generosity."
Lee Howes, Operations Manager at First Eastern Counties’ Norwich depot, said: “We are always happy to help charities, especially organisations like the British Red Cross which provides invaluable support to people both in the UK and overseas.”
The British Red Cross has helped those in crisis since 1870. They work locally in the UK as well as internationally and provide support at home and in local emergencies, as well as large scale disaster response and support for vulnerable communities.
