First drivers receive award

21 Feb 2014

Nine First Essex bus drivers have been recognised as some of the best on the road.

Mark Emberson, Paul Ferguson, Tony Pullen, John Gay, Abigail Eastwell, Graham Goddard, Reg Staines, Andrew Gross and Andrew Wright, who are all based at First’s Hadleigh depot, have been awarded the GreenRoad Fleet Elite.

Launched in February 2012, GreenRoad Fleet elite is designed to motivate and reward the best driver performance.

The scheme sees drivers aim for a score of zero. At the start of every trip, the driver is ‘green’. If the driver rapidly brakes or accelerates, the GreenRoad display flashes a yellow or red light, depending on the severity. Points are given for each event and the fewer points a driver has, the better their GreenRoad safety score is.

Andy Spicer, Depot Operations Manager at First Essex’s Hadleigh depot, said the awards are a testament to the drivers’ hard work.

He said: “We are proud of our drivers who work hard to deliver better journeys for life. We are continuously working to improve our standards.”
