Buses in First’s Eastern Counties fleet are now “wearing” their poppies with pride for Remembrance Day on Tuesday 11 November.
More than 250 buses across Norfolk and Suffolk are now adorned with large red poppies as a mark of respect to all those who gave their lives in the two World Wars and other conflicts.
Lee Howes, Operations Manager for First Eastern Counties, said: “We are proud to support the Royal British Legion and we know this gesture will be appreciated by our customers especially for those who were members of the Armed Forces or have family and friends that served. Many of our drivers are also in the Reserves or retired from the Forces.
“This area has several military connections and the poppies on our buses are designed to reflect this proud legacy leading up to and including Remembrance Day especially this year, the centenary of the start of World War One.”
FirstGroup has made a significant donation to the Royal British Legion for the poppies.
Customers are advised that if it is safe to do so, First Eastern Counties’ drivers will be observing the minute’s silence at 11.00 on Remembrance Day.
