Bus customers in Galashiels have been benefiting from an improved service after local bus operator, FirstBorders, increased the number of buses on Service 7 which links Langlees with Galashiels town centre.
The local management team at FirstBorders listened to customer feedback and suggestions, and from 20 January 2014 began running buses every 15 minutes between 0915 and 1530 (Monday to Saturday) instead of every 20 minutes. The improved service follows confirmation from First that the trial of the local £3 Galashiels day ticket will be extended to 2 March 2014.
Operations Manager for FirstBorders, Lee Young, said: “This is good news for customers. Many of our customers have suggested that we provide a more regular service between Galashiels town centre and Langlees. We’ve closely monitored demand and reviewed passenger numbers and are confident that we can sustain running services every 15 minutes.
“We are working hard to improve our services and encourage more people to use the bus. By improving the Service 7 timetable and continuing to provide customers with a £3 day ticket, we’re confident that we can attract more people on to our services.”
Service 7 operates between Langlees and Galashiels every day of the week. On Mondays to Saturdays, the service operates every 15 minutes between the hours of 0915 to 1530 and every 30 minutes at peak times. On a Sunday Service 7 operates every 30 minutes.
