Street ambassadors move to Lowestoft bus station

10 Mar 2014

Bus users in Lowestoft are being given a helping hand in the town thanks to local street ambassadors.

Following a meeting with First Eastern Counties earlier this year, Lowestoft Vision agreed for the ambassadors to start their days work at the bus station in a bid to help those visiting the town for the first time.

Initially funded by a grant from the Portas Pilot, Lowestoft Vision’s Street Ambassadors are based in the town from Tuesday to Saturday.

Darren Newman, Lowestoft Vision BID Manager, said: “The street ambassadors are Lowestoft Vision’s eyes and ears on the ground. They make sure that the town centre is clean and tidy and they record any faults.

“They will now be able to welcome people into the town and provide people with information when they get off the bus. We are always looking at ways to encourage people into the town by using public transport.”

Richard Alger, Staff Manager at First’s Lowestoft depot, said: “We encourage as many people as possible to visit Lowestoft by bus.

“We are committed to delivering better journeys for life and hope that the street ambassadors will help our customers when they arrive in the town.”
