First Aberdeen today confirmed that it has been shortlisted for a record five prizes at this year’s Scottish Transport Awards, one of the transport industry’s most respected award ceremonies.
The company, which earlier this year revealed that it is carrying more than 1,000 extra customers a day compared to 2013, has been shortlisted for the event’s top prize, Public Transport Operator of the Year.
First Aberdeen’s high profile Platinum service, which includes TV screens, free wifi, leather seats and a no quibble guarantee, has been nominated in three categories: Best Bus Service, Most Innovative Transport Project and Excellence in Travel Information and Marketing.
Also shortlisted is First Aberdeen Bus Driver, Ian Walker, who also serves as the company’s Employee Director. He has been nominated in the Frontline Employee of the Year category for his commitment to local charities and his approach to customer service.
Managing Director of First Aberdeen, Duncan Cameron, said: “I’m delighted the company has been shortlisted for these important awards, indeed it’s a big boost to everyone at First that we’ve been nominated for a total of five prizes. It’s a new record for us and reflects the hard work and commitment across the entire team to improve services and encourage more people on to our buses."
The Scottish Transport Awards will take place June 19 in Glasgow.
