First UK Bus Appoints Director of Transformation

26 Aug 2013

First UK Bus, Britain’s leading bus operator, has appointed a Director of Transformation.  Chris Rogers (47) joins the company from management consultancy, ASK, and will be responsible for enabling depot teams to deliver the company’s ‘Better Journeys for Life’ promise.

Talking about his new position, Chris said: “I’ll be working with the depot teams as part of their transformation programme and driving First UK Bus’ comprehensive leadership development programme.  Ultimately, my role will help ensure that our stakeholders and customers are at the heart of our business.”

Chris has been working with First over the past year on a consultancy basis and will take up his new permanent position, based in the Midlands, from Mid September.

He continued: “Having been inspired by the enthusiasm and the commitment of First’s wider leadership team to embrace change and improvement, I’m thoroughly looking forward to joining the team.  It’s a great time to be joining the company with some really exciting initiatives planned and a real focus on how we can make our services more attractive to customers and our wider stakeholders.”

First’s Chief Operating Officer, Jeroen Weimar, said: “I’m delighted that in Chris we’ve been able to secure someone who knows our business well, has a proven track record and is results driven.  His new role is an important one as we step up our plans to grow our business.”

Chris started his career in 1989 at Barclays Bank where he worked in a number of Learning & Development roles, before joining the Learning and Skills Council in 2001.  Since 2006 he has worked as Managing Consultant at ASK where he has led leadership development and culture change projects for clients including PwC, Invensys Rail, Department for Transport and the UK Borders Agency.
