Local bus operator, First Borders, has introduced a new ‘Day Ticket’ in Galashiels.
The £3 ticket, which provides customers with unlimited bus travel throughout the town, is available now and can be bought on board the bus.
“The new ticket is designed for those customers that use our buses more than once or twice a day,” said Lee Young, Operations Manager at First Borders’ headquarters in Galashiels. “Customers have told us that many of them use the bus two, three and even four times a day to nip down to the shops, collect the kids from school or visit Bank Street Gardens.”
“We want to encourage more people on to our bus services and so introducing the £3 day ticket we hope will trigger some extra demand. It’s easy to use and offers terrific value for money.
“We’ve recently invested £1.5m in 10 brand new buses which operate in Galashiels, all fitted with leather seats and complementary wi-fi. We’re confident that our new buses and our day ticket will help attract more customers.”
First Borders confirmed that the new day ticket will run on a trial basis until 1 December 2013. “We’ll be working hard to ensure the new ticket is successful,” continued Lee. “If enough customers use the new ticket we’ll make it a permanent addition to our range of fares.”
To support the launch of the new ticket First Borders will run a bespoke marketing campaign. This includes advertising on ATM machines across Galashiels, which represents a first for any First bus company in Scotland. First Borders will also promote the new ticket on its buses, website and via Twitter.
