Staff at Aberdeen based transport giant, FirstGroup, have been donating food, toys and children’s books for two local charities, Instant Neighbour and Befriend a Child.

“More than 300 non perishable items were donated and more than 150 toys and children’s books”, said Karen Smith, an Office Manager at FirstGroup.

“It’s something we do every year, but this Christmas we decided to remind and encourage people to make donations by borrowing a shopping trolley and leaving it in the middle of the office.  It was a fantastic idea and worked wonderfully well – we’ve had more donations than ever before.”

Katie Smart, FirstGroup’s CSR and Community Manager, said: “I’m delighted that almost every single member of staff supported our appeal.”

She continued: “At this time of year in particular charities such as Instant Neighbour and Befriend a Child do an incredible job in supporting vulnerable individuals and families in the north east of Scotland. I’m pleased that by donating non perishables, toys and children’s books FirstGroup staff have helped improve the festive period for some of those people.”
