Two employees from FirstGroup, the UK’s largest transport operator, are backing First’s support of Save the Children’s ‘BORN TO PARTY’ week (24 April – 1 May).
KATE Clyne (23), a Customer Support Team Member and WILLIAM Longmuir (64), a coach driver, have been volunteered by their colleagues to sport wedding outfits ahead of the Royal Wedding to raise awareness for Save the Children, First’s charity partners.
The pair are NOT an item, but agreed, in the name of charity, to pose as Kate Middleton and Prince William doubles this morning.
WILLIAM has been a driver with First for more than 30 years. He said: “I suspect this is as close to royalty as I am going to get! I will be getting lots of stick from the other drivers, but its all good fun and a great way to raise a little cash for Save the Children.”
KATE (real name Katie) is also something of a musical actress having appeared in leading roles at the Lemon Tree, His Majesty’s and hopes one day to appear in London’s West End. She said: “I might not be Kate Middleton, but I certainly enjoyed getting my picture taken today. It’s a fun way to raise money for a great cause.”
The idea behind the fundraiser is Avril Gill’s, FirstGroup’s Marketing Manager. She said: “We were keen to do something to support our charity partner’s ‘BORN TO PARTY WEEK’. Staff from our bus and rail divisions throughout the UK are getting involved and raising money for Save the Children. In Aberdeen, we’ve had our very own Royal Wedding preview thanks to our great sports, Katie and William.”
First has raised more than £4m in cash and in kind for its charity partner, Save the Children, since 2007.
