First’s Irish subsidiary, Aircoach, Ireland’s leading private bus and coach operator and provider of luxury coach services operating to and from Dublin Airport, has won Ireland’s most prestigious transport award.

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Ireland (CILT) awarded the Overall Logistic and Transport Award to Aircoach for its total commitment and focus on its passengers and their safety.

The award was presented to Managing Director Allen Parker at the high profile Irish Logistic and Transport Awards in the Burlington Hotel in Dublin on Thursday 10th February.

Aircoach was also the winner of the Safety Award which was sponsored by the Health and Safety Authority, for its outstanding achievements in the area of safety improvement.

In making the award the judges said that they “were especially impressed by Aircoach’s total focus on passengers and its real commitment to the highest safety and comfort standards. Aircoach takes safety very, very seriously”, said the judges.  “From training to using the latest IT systems to improve their safety performance, they’re a really class act. And their commitment to improvements had demonstrably worked, with a significant drop in accidents.”

All 10 winners of the individual awards were assessed for the overall prize and Aircoach was chosen by a distinguished panel of judges selected by the Irish CILT. Last year the award was won by Irish Ferries and this year Aircoach had to beat off strong competition from nine companies including Dublin Bus and Veolia (Luas).

Allen Parker, Aircoach MD, said: “We are delighted to have won the Overall Logistics and Transport Award which means we are seen as the number one transport operator in Ireland. This award is thanks to the hard work put in by all our staff, particularly in the area of passenger and staff safety, and they all take a share of this prize. Safety is our number one priority and to be rewarded for our efforts is very pleasing.”
