New service to provide jobs boost and greater accessibility to airport

Aircoach, Ireland’s leading private bus and coach operator, has announced details of a new route from Ballinteer to Dublin Airport. The Minister of State for Public and Commuter Transport, Alan Kelly T.D., officially launched the new Aircoach route from Ballinteer to Dublin Airport today. The new route will serve a population catchment of 100,000 and 13 new jobs have been created as a result of this new service.

The route will serve Ballinteer, Dundrum, Rathfarnham, Terenure, Templeogue and runs to Dublin Airport via the M50 and is scheduled to run 54 times every day and over 12,000 times during the remainder of 2011. In 2010, Aircoach served a total of 1.5 million customers on its services to and from Dublin Airport.

Speaking at the launch, Minister Kelly said: “I welcome this new service which establishes a much needed coach route and 13 new jobs to this part of South Dublin. Aircoach has had a very positive impact on Irish public transport with its extensive network and good quality practices. The Government is committed to the development of the tourism sector and improving direct access to Dublin Airport is a very important part of our strategy.”

Aircoach’s Managing Director, Allen Parker, said: “Aircoach is delighted to introduce the new twenty four hour high quality service between Ballinteer and Dublin Airport. This section of South Dublin had no direct airport service and we are delighted to be able to provide this service at great value for money prices.

Today’s announcement sees the creation of 13 full-time jobs and the launch of a much-needed, high-quality, value for money link between Ballinteer and Dublin Airport. The new route operates 54 services daily, seven days per week, offering departures 24 hours per day up to every 30 minutes on coaches with full air-conditioning and leather seating with extra legroom. In addition, all coaches have free Wi-Fi on board and all services operate to and from the front doors of both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 at Dublin Airport.

Passengers wishing to use the service can book online at www.aircoach.ie or purchase tickets from the coach driver on the day of their journey.
