A survey commissioned by Greyhound UK, the low cost, luxurious coach operator, has revealed some unusual reasons as to why students living away from home return to visit their home towns.
Home comforts featured prominently in the questionnaire, which surveyed current students living away from home and former students that opted to live away from their parents whilst at university. 18% of respondents said getting their washing done was a reason why they visited home and 27% said home cooking.
11% of students said a clean and comfortable bed was a motivator but only 5% said a good shower.
14% of respondents said that they travelled home for some peace and quiet but just 6% said that de-toxing after too much partying was a reason.
The survey found that visiting family was the most important reason why students travel home (80%).
To help students get home this year Greyhound UK will be offering students a 35% discount on any of its UK services throughout 2011.
Alex Warner, Managing Director of Greyhound UK, said: “Our services are already very popular with students. In these tough economic times we wanted to make life a little easier for students to get home. So throughout 2011 we will allow students to travel on any of our UK services at a 35% discount.”
Students wishing to take advantage of the offer should log on to www.greyhounduk.com and when prompted use the promotion code “university”. When travelling, students must show a valid student matriculation card.
